Celiac's Disease

Celiac's Disease

Celiac's disease is an autoimmune disorder that affects about 1 in 100 people worldwide while millions of Americans go undiagnosed putting their bodies at risk of serious damage. When someone with Celiac's Disease ingests gluten, it triggers their immune system to attack the villi in the small-intestine, damaging them and preventing nutrient absorption. A person who goes undiagnosed put themselves at risk for multiple sclerosis, type 1 diabetes, dermatitis herpetiformis, anemia, osteoporosis, infertility and miscarriage, neurological conditions, and intestinal cancers.

Even though these symptoms are split in two different categories, I had symptoms from both lists and my number one complaint was bloating and digestive issues. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms in either column, talk to your doctor so the proper steps can be made.

Treatment

The only treatment for those with Celiac's disease is a strict gluten-free diet. And let me tell you, there are plenty of gluten-free options but some are better than others. I hope, with the help from you, I can steer you in the right direction!
